‘Despicable!’ College invites cop killer to be commencement speaker, widow lashes out

The widow of a police officer murdered in the line of duty is slamming a liberal arts college for inviting her husband’s killer to be a commencement speaker.

megynkellymaureenfaulkner1002Maureen Faulkner’s husband, Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner, was shot to death in 1981 by Mumia Abu Jamal, a radio journalist and black nationalist who was convicted and sentenced to death in 1982.

Since then, Abu Jamal (his legions of deluded fans call him “Mumia“) has become a progressive cause celebre – an idol of well-heeled white liberals in the United States and lauded by the radical chic globally who think shooting police officers is hip.

Instead of being executed – his sentence was challenged for decades until being vacated in 2011, though his conviction was upheld – Abu Jamal has spent his time in prison writing books and newspaper columns and earning a college degree from Vermont’s Goddard College.

Now, the little white libs at Goddard want him to be their commencement speaker at Sunday’s ceremony.

On Megyn Kelly’s “The Kelly File” Tuesday, Maureen Faulkner blasted the college.

“How can this go in our country? It’s amazing,” she said. “People need to start realizing that there’s right and wrong in this world. It seems like no one thinks about that.”

Not at Goddard College, apparently.

Justin Dyerly, a spokesman for the school, appeared on the show to explain the school’s position — and get eaten alive by Megyn Kelly.

This isn’t how he put it, but what it really boils down to is this:

Goddard kids can pick whatever commencement speaker they want; Goddard kids know they got to a nowhere school that no one ever heard of and could use some headlines; Goddard students have their very own alum who actually did something as cool as murdering a 25-year-old cop and how awesome is that? Making him commencement speaker would generate “discussion.”

Maureen Faulkner is disgusted — as any decent person would be.

“It’s not appropriate,” Faulkner told Kelly, with considerable understatement. “His freedom was taken away when he murdered a police officer in the line of duty. It seems like our justice system allows murderers to continue to have a voice over the public airwaves and at college commencement.

“It’s despicable.”

It’s liberals.
