There you have it. No need to investigate this “phony scandal” anymore.
Former director of the Exempt Organizations Unit of the U.S. Internal Revenue, Lois Lerner, talked to Politico in an exclusive two-hour puff piece interview.
“I didn’t do anything wrong,” 63-year-old Lerner said. “I’m proud of my career and the job I did for this country.”
Throughout the interview, Lerner spoke defiantly, saying that she was targeted only because she was the one who announced the story. She added that once she declined to talk, the Republicans knew they could say anything and she could not fight back.
“Regardless of whatever else happens, I know I did the best I could under the circumstances and am not sorry for anything I did,” Lerner said with her husband by her side.
Politico reported:
The portrait that emerges shows Lerner is, indeed, fierce, unapologetic and perhaps even tone-deaf when she says things that show her Democratic leanings. She had a quick temper and may have intimidated co-workers who could have helped her out of this mess. It’s easy to see how Republicans have seized on the image of a devilish figure cracking down on conservative nonprofits.

@politico The clear absence of remorse while being magnanimous about what she did speaks of absolute contempt, that’s worse than Bias.

@politico “I was doing my job.” Isn’t that basically what most of the defendants at the Nuremberg Trials said?
