Commander in chief Obama has no war-fighting creds, won’t listen to those who do

The scariest of anxieties for any country involve an incompetent military commander in crisis. That’s what we’ve come to in America. Barack Obama, the commander in chief of the most powerful army on Earth, has had no military training. Yet he continuously refuses the best advice of the world’s most competent field commanders. He fires commanders who disagree with him. He hires or retires his senior military officers based on zero experience. Before his presidency, he never hired or fired anybody, except petition-gatherers.

We are at war, whether Obama wants to use the word or not, with Islamic State militants. He refuses to call them by the term other military leaders and journalists use – ISIS, which stands for Islamic State in Iraq and Syria — because he doesn’t want to remind people of his failed “red-line” policies in Syria. This is a war for survival. Our enemy, including Islamic State, is a worldwide menace intent on killing all “infidels,” preferably by suicide attacks or beheading if possible. For Islamist women who disobey men, these barbarians even prefer killing by stoning. These primitives don’t hesitate to hide behind women and children in war, to practice their savagery. Yet, as recently as January, Obama called the Islamic State a “JV team.”

America is the world’s best chance to stop this evil, but we have a supreme commander who’s ignorant of effective military strategies and has no war-fighting credentials.

After telling the world, “I don’t have a strategy” against the enemy, this president later broadcasted to those enemies what his war plans will be. Stupidly, he told Islamic State terrorists that they will not face American “boots on the ground” — so now they can plan accordingly. No competent commander blabs to his enemy what he will not do. Obama has even stated publicly the timelines he plans to follow.

Remember, for the last couple of years, as our nation faced a significant threat, Obama has fired experienced senior military officers by the hundreds. Presiding over a massive decline in American power, he has promoted military budget cuts so he can give away more domestic handouts and entitlements. Yes, here’s a president who believes that buying more votes for his political party is more important than national security.

Confronting Islamic State effectively requires clear and secret policies, and a well-funded military. Instead, this commander in chief is the master of hesitancy and ambivalence — major reasons for the jihadist revival. He dithered in the early days of the revolution in Syria, allowing the jihadists to gain the initiative. Obama’s inaction allowed the jihadists to capture major regions of Syria and Iraq. His “red line” in the sand comment about the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian regime is the stuff of parody.

Worse, he is a supreme commander who is a quitter. He quit Libya, ordered a full withdrawal from Iraq in 2011, and is leaving Afghanistan now. The Islamic State knows he is a quitter and counts on it. In many cases, the jihadist battle plan is simply to wait him out. Islamic State now knows that Obama prefers golfing over war rooms and vacations instead of strategy sessions.

Only an incompetent commander does such things. It’s not that Obama is a softie — he loves drone attacks. The problem is his lack of experience and wisdom, and poor judgment.
