Comedienne Joan Rivers had the type of sendoff on Sunday that she wanted – complete with A-list Hollywood stars and bagpipes in the heart of New York City.
Rivers had a plan for her funeral, and wrote about it in her 2012 book “I Hate Everyone … Starting with Me,” according to the Huffington Post, which referred to this tweet:
I hope Joan’s funeral requests are honored because that would be absolutely, positively fabulous. Just like her. pic.twitter.com/rq4pbMMJKb

Rivers had her “huge showbiz affair,” complete with a star-studded guest list that included Kathy Griffin, Sarah Jessica Parker, Whoopi Goldberg, Donald Trump, Diane Sawyer, Barbara Walters and Joy Behar in attendance, representing the A-list to D-list at Manhattan’s Temple Emanu-El, according to CNN.
She may not have had Bobby Vinton, but the New York Gay Men’s Chorus provided show tunes such as “That’s Entertainment,” “Nothing Like a Dame,” “What a Wonderful World” and closing with “Big Spender.”
People magazine reported that Audra McDonald sang “Smile,” a favorite of Rivers, and actor Hugh Jackman sang “Quiet Please, There’s a Lady on Stage.”
The service concluded with “New York, New York” and “Give My Regards to Broadway” performed by the New York Police Department’s bagpipe band, who led the procession out of the temple.
