Rick Perry fights back with brutal attack on DA indictment before preparing to turn himself in

A political action committee supporting Texas Gov. Rick Perry released a scathing video Tuesday tearing apart the patently political indictment of the governor announced last week by a political foe.

collagerickperryrosemarylehmberg0819The video, titled “Setting the Record Straight,” comes as Perry is preparing to turn himself in for booking Tuesday evening, Fox News reported.

The video summarizes last year’s drunken driving arrest of Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg — a Democrat — and explains its role in Perry’s decision to veto funding for a public integrity office Lehmberg oversees.

That veto was the subject of Friday’s indictment, which even Democrat pundits say is likely to be seen as an attack aimed at damaging Perry’s prospects as a future Republican presidential contender.

Check out the video here.

And for a fuller picture of Lehmberg’s arrest, check out this booking video. You won’t have to remind yourself that the drunken woman on the screen is the Travis County district attorney, she does that enough herself.

(If you have any doubts about how politics and the law intersect in Travis County, Texas, the “Greg” she keeps referring to is Sheriff Greg Hamilton.)
