Krauthammer, Fox panel don’t buy Hillary’s ‘blatant inauthenticity’ in Obama criticism, ‘hug’

While the bandwagon media puzzles over Hillary Clinton’s latest public criticisms of President Obama, followed by a backpedaling promise to “hug it out,” conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer and other Fox panelists weren’t being fooled.

krauthammer0814It’s just Clinton saying what a Clinton needs to say to please the public, Krauthammer said Wednesday on Fox News’ “Special Report.”

And it’s what she’s always done, no different from her criticism of the Iraq war when she was battling Obama during the Democrat primary fight in 2008, he said.

“She was up against Obama, the anti-war senator in the Iowa primary, so she moved left the last time around,” Krauthammer said. “And now, because she’s not going to face a serious challenge on her left, she’s now maneuvering to the center for her current run and expressing more hawkish opinions than the Obama administration.”

That’s not how Clinton’s interview published in The Atlantic on Sunday was generally taken in the mainstream media, and even conservatives wondered if this was finally what Clinton really thinks after being publicly loyal to Obama while she was secretary of state.

But to Krauthammer, Clinton’s latest stance shouldn’t be taken any more truthfully than any other.

Instead, he said, “such a blatant display of inauthenticity, it’s breathtaking.”

“You never actually have any  idea of what is the core belief,” he said.

Panelist Ron Fournier, senior political columnist for the National Journal, noted that he actually took Clinton’s comments in The Atlantic seriously, but was caught up short on Tuesday when a Clinton spokesman issued a statement saying she never intended to criticize Obama personally.

“This authenticity is her biggest bugaboo, and she ran right into it with those comments yesterday,” he said.

“Inauthenticity” is a long way of saying what most people mean when they say “b.s.”

And it’s what the Clintons have been peddling for a long, long time.
