Tinseltown is famously liberal, and campaign records show it. With Democrats’ Senate majority on the line, Hollywood stars are coming to the rescue, filling their campaign coffers with cash.

The list of donors looks like a roll call from the Hollywood Walk of Fame: Barbra Streisand, Ben Affleck, Jack Black, Nicolas Cage, Danny DeVito, Tom Hanks, James Cameron, Leonardo DiCaprio, Steven Spielberg, Jerry Seinfeld, Jennifer Garner, Cameron Diaz — even “Mad Man” Jon Hamm, according to the Federal Election Commission records cited by The Hill.

Streisand, one of Democrats’ biggest donors, gave $10,000 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, $2,600 to Minority House Leader Nancy Pelosi and $1,000 each to several Democratic Senate campaigns.
Democratic Sens. Mark Udall of Colorado, Jeff Merkley of Oregon, Mark Begich of Alaska and Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire are in tough races to keep their seats, and all are raking in money from A-list stars.
Hollywood’s largesse is not only helping incumbents, it’s also flowing to candidates seeking to unseat Republicans. The Hill pointed out that Alison Lundergan Grimes, who is running against Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell in Kentucky, is one of the largest beneficiaries of the cash infusion.
Grimes’ donors also include a few more famous people, including Woody Allen, Leonard Nimoy, Ben Stiller, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Chris Rock and Ted Danson, according to The Hill.
It’s all in the family for Sen. Al Franken, a Democrat from Minnesota who is enjoying generous donations from fellow “Saturday Night Live” alumni. Stars Steve Martin and Jane Curtin have given thousands to his re-election bid.
Not surprisingly, the list of Republican donors is a bit shorter, according to The Hill.
Donald Trump gave $2,500 to Sen. John Cornyn’s campaign for re-election in Texas, while Sen. Lamar Alexander’s campaign received a “hail Mary” donation of $5,200 from Peyton Manning, the famous University of Tennessee alum and Denver Broncos quarterback.
