David Gregory announces he’s leaving NBC; replacement on deck for ‘Meet the Press’

David Gregory, moderator of “Meet The Press,” announced Thursday that when he steps down, he will be leaving NBC News.

Gregory tweeted the news following the announcement that Chuck Todd, NBC News chief White House correspondent and political director, will likely take over the “Meet the Press” gig, according to a CNN report.

He sent his news in two parts:

Gregory “did not seem very engaged with politics and policy,” according to Politico, which reported he was “widely disliked within the organization,” rubbing colleagues at NBC the wrong way.

NBC’s Sunday show had dismal ratings under Gregory’s term, but the network hopes that more congenial — and more politically savvy — Todd will be a better fit, according to Politico.
