Children of US pastor jailed in Iran make heart-wrenching video plea to Obama

American pastor Saeed Abedini’s children have recorded themselves begging for President Obama’s help in getting their father released from an Iranian prison.

Abedini’s teary-eyed children make the plea in a heart-wrenching video, “Dear President Obama: Please help bring our daddy home.”

“I miss him so much,” daughter Rebekka Abedini says in the video, posted on YouTube last week.

“I don’t want him to miss another birthday or Christmas or Father’s Day,” her brother Jacob says.

Abedini, imprisoned in September 2012, is serving an eight-year sentence for being a Christian, according to Fox News.

Abedini’s family are in Boise, Idaho, where his wife, Naghmeh, has been working on a worldwide effort to pressure the Iranian government for his release.

Secretary of State John Kerry said in June that the United States is actively pursuing Abedini’s release, according to Fox News.

“In Iran, U.S. Iranian citizen Pastor Saeed Abedini remains imprisoned. The Iranian authorities sentenced him to eight years behind bars simply because of his religious beliefs,” Kerry said. “We will continue to call for his release and we will continue to work for it.”
