Small business owners continue to take it on the chin for obeying their firmly held religious beliefs, as the owner of a Pennsylvania bridal boutique has learned to her dismay.
For refusing to serve a lesbian couple, the complaint on Facebook by one of them struck a nerve with the anything-goes crowd.
The list of comments grew so long, that the Bloomsburg Town Council has planned to discuss the issue at its Monday meeting.
Meanwhile, W.W. Bridal Boutique owner Victoria Miller told The Press Enterprise, “We feel we have to answer to God for what we do, and providing those two girls dresses for a sanctified marriage would break God’s law,” according to the New York Daily News.
Miller has received messages ranging from total support to outright hostility.
Check out an Eyewitness News report here.
According to an unnamed attorney interviewed by Bloomsbury Eyewitness News TV, Pennsylvania law does not prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation, and the owner is not in violation of any state or federal statute.
Miller’s lawyer, Al Luschas, affirmed that she has a “liberty interest” as part of her decision and cannot be forced to violate her “firmly and honestly held religious beliefs,” the Daily News reported.
Comments in support of Miller ranged from a business owner’s right to refuse service to “God commands us to love the sinner but hate the sin. That means you don’t do things to promote sinful acts,” and “God will bless you as you stand by your beliefs in a righteous manner.”
As happened to bakers and photographers and now to a bridal shop, the LGBT gang just cannot mind their own business and respect the privacy of solid American citizens.
