On the eve of his annual summer retreat on tony Martha’s Vineyard, the White House was hard at work convincing the world that President Obama was hard at work.
The blog White House Dossier reported that pool reporters were escorted to the windows of the Oval Office and given all of ten seconds to record images of Obama sitting at his desk.
Man deals with spoiled brat at Burger King in most hilarious way
And to ensure it was an action shot, the president had both pen and phone in hand.
White House Dossier provided a photo of the free-for-all, disproving the belief that working the press pool is glamorous duty.
From the pool report, as provided by White House Dossier:
At 11:18 am, the pool was brought to the windows outside the Oval Office for a photo spray. It lasted 10 seconds.
We spotted the president sitting at his desk, talking on the phone – his left hand to his left ear. He briefly fiddled with his pen. Several aides were sitting on the couches. The pool has requested a list but the pool did spot Tony Blinken, deputy national security adviser.
Not much gets by these journalists, the crème de la crème.
According to the White House, the president was on the phone “with His Majesty King Abdullah II of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.”
But, as noted by White House Dossier, the end result of the photo frenzy was that this photo graced the homepage of the New York Times web site Friday evening:
