President Obama’s address Thursday on the Iraq conflict was delayed by a pint-sized security breach — a toddler who squeezed through the White House fence and went briefly missing, CNN reported.
The president, media and the nation were forced to wait while Secret Service officers searched for the mischievous boy, prompting a lockdown in the area just as the briefing was set to begin.
The Secret Service responded to the brief breach with uncharacteristic humor.
“We were going to wait until he learned to talk to question him, but in lieu of that he got a timeout and was sent on way with parents,” spokesman Edwin Donovan said in a statement.
The tiny tot was quickly found and returned safely to his parents, who will likely remind him of his grand adventure for years to come.
