Let-them-all-in crusader U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., accused Republicans of cowardice, hypocrisy and child cruelty after they passed a $694 million bill Friday to address the border crisis.
The GOP’s short-lived victory has no chance of becoming law, according to the Washington Examiner, but it provides cover for representatives in tight races to say they attempted to fix an issue boiling on America’s front burner.
But Gutierrez could not tolerate even a minor setback. Just last week, he gleefully announced he was headed to the White House to sit down with President Obama’s advisers and give him the ammunition he needed to grant amnesty to border jumpers and increase Democrats’ numbers.
“We are going to sit down and we’re going to negotiate additional terms and avenues the president can use and prosecutorial discretion,” Gutierrez said, according to video posted on YouTube, “and I think we can get three or four or maybe even five million people.”
During Friday’s debate, Gutierrez accused Republicans of acting like they “despise all children” in passing the bill, saying, “Only cowards scapegoat children,” according to Twitchy.
After the bill passed by a nearly party-line vote of 223-189, Gutierrez took to Twitter to vent his animosity, knowing full well he has the president’s blessing, tweeting:
In the dark of night Republicans are voting to deport DREAMers, take away the DACA program, and make every undocumented immigrant deportable

But now, late on a Friday night you are going after the DREAMers who have known no other country than this one.

Is there no one in @HouseGOP who can stand up & talk sensibly when others in party want 2 demonize children at the border & deport DREAMers?
— Luis V. Gutierrez (@RepGutierrez) August 2, 2014
Only cowards scapegoat children and only those who are ashamed of themselves do it after hours on a Friday night.
— Luis V. Gutierrez (@RepGutierrez) August 2, 2014
In the end, the Republican position on #immigration can be summed up as “deport ‘em all.”
— Luis V. Gutierrez (@RepGutierrez) August 2, 2014
The legislation would strengthen security at the Mexican border and block funding for expansion of the DREAM Act, which coyotes and drug gangs use to lure thousands to illegally enter America. Both efforts appear to nauseate Gutierrez.
As Congress breaks for its August recess and Obama heads to Martha’s Vineyard, expect more fireworks than usual around Labor Day, with the president overreaching his authority to legalize the illegals and Republicans scrambling to erect barricades.
