Another 16-day vacation in Martha’s Vineyard, rumors of lavish house shopping – it can only be the Obamas

Critics have charged President Obama with incompetence on a number of levels, but one thing the man does well is vacation.

But then, he’s had plenty of practice at it.

According to the Washington Examiner, President Obama will soon break for a 16-day vacation in Martha’s Vineyard, Mass., and once complete, will have taken all or part of 141 days of vacation since moving into the White House.

Compare that to the 3.7 days per year most Americans take for vacation, as reported by the U.S. Travel Association.

we don’t buy Obama’s ‘busy schedule’ excuse

From the Middle East to Ukraine, the world appears to be on fire, but Obama will watch it burn from a $12 million, 10-acre forested estate on Martha’s Vineyard, according to Forbes, who noted that the first family has summered at the tony island every year Obama has been in office, except for 2012 when he was running for reelection.

And rumors that the Obama family is purchasing a home in a gated California community where some of Hollywood’s top stars have maintained estates might suggest that they’ve grown fond of the affluent lifestyle.

The Los Angeles Times reported that anonymous sources have said Obama is buying a $4.25 million home in Rancho Mirage — the White House has denied this.

The area has the reputation of being the “playground of the presidents,” and according to the Times, the house includes “a pool with a 20-foot waterfall, a rock lagoon, two spas, a misting system and a putting green with a sand trap,” making it a perfect fit for this president.

Supporters will argue that the president is always on the job and the trapping of the office follow him wherever he goes, and will note that his predecessor took more vacation days — George W. Bush did spend a lot of time at his ranch in Texas.

But the taxpayer watchdog group Judicial Watch says Obama is “oblivious to the costs of his unnecessary travel.”

Judicial Watch President Tom Fittin told the Examiner: “Any American would understand that sending the president and Secret Service to a small Texas town is a lot cheaper than an ostentatious vacation in Martha’s Vineyard and Hawaii.”
