Amid the news that a Malaysia Airlines passenger jet was shot down over eastern Ukraine Thursday, killing all 295 people on board, including up to 23 American citizens, President Obama maintained his normal schedule.
A schedule that included a stop at a burger joint, as ABC News chief White House correspondent Jonathan Karl noted in a tweet Thursday afternoon:
President’s schedule unchanged – he’s now at the Charcoal Pit near Wilmington where he ordered the “Pit Special” – burger & fries.

Yep, it appeared to be business as usual for the “adrift” president. Twitchy.com documented his visit to the Charcoal Pit through a number of tweets:

“I’m starving,” said Pres Obama as he sat down to lunch with letter writer Tanei Benjamin. He order a cheeseburger and fries. (Medium well)

Obama’s seemingly nonchalant attitude quickly wore thin with a host of Twitter users, but the real question is, has this country learned yet that elections have consequences?
Dear White House, today isn’t the best day for your burger photo op. In case you haven’t seen the news, Americans are dead in Ukraine.

“Mr. President, 23 Americans appear to have been murdered in the Ukraine conflict. Perhaps we should cut short this burger photo op.”

Obama should really get that to go.

23 Americans killed by terrorists but DAMN GOOD BURGERS. RT @ZekeJMiller: Obama per pool: “Biden told me the burgers are pretty good.”

@markknoller Um, is POTUS aware that Putin is now blowing passenger jets out of the sky??
