Race-obsessed Holder won’t back off calling fellow citizens ‘cowards’

Attorney General Eric Holder played the race card yet again Sunday, saying he and President Obama have been targets of “a racial animus” by “some people.”

It doesn’t require much of an imagination to see that he was referring to the tea party.

“There’s a certain level of vehemence, it seems to me, that’s directed at me [and] directed at the president,” Holder told ABC News in a rare interview. “You know, people talking about taking their country back. …There’s a certain racial component to this for some people. I don’t think this is the thing that is a main driver, but for some there’s a racial animus.”

He couched his comment somewhat, saying the country is in “a fundamentally better place than we were 50 years ago.”

The man who heads what is arguably the most politicized Justice Department in recent memory also stood by his 2009 comment that when it comes to race, the U.S. is a “nation of cowards.”

“I wouldn’t walk away from that speech,” Holder said. “I think we are still a nation that is too afraid to confront racial issues.”

Unfortunately, in the Obama era, discussing race is a one-way conversation.

Holder took at cheap shot at former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin when asked to comment on her recent calls to impeach Obama.

“She wasn’t a particularly good vice presidential candidate,” he said. “She’s an even worse judge of who ought to be impeached and why.”

To the surprise of no one, Holder said there’s no need for a special prosecutor to investigate the IRS scandal — despite the likelihood that the agency is being used as a political weapon to target White House opponents.
