Actor Gary Oldman went on a profanity-laced rant in a recent magazine interview, denouncing “political correctness” and the overabundance of hypocrisy in Hollywood.

The British star gained international attention as Lee Harvey Oswald in “JFK” and Count Dracula in “Bram Stoker’s Dracula.” More recent films include “The Dark Knight” and several of the Harry Potter movies, where he played the character Sirius Black.

 “I just think political correctness is crap,” the award-winning Englishman said in the July-August issue of Playboy magazine. “That’s what I think about it. I think it’s like, take a f***ing joke. Get over it.”

Oldman defended fellow actors Mel Gibson and Alec Baldwin, who have been pilloried for using foul language.

“[Mel] got drunk and said a few things, but we’ve all said those things. We’re all f***ing hypocrites,” said Oldman, who described himself as a libertarian. “That’s what I think about it. The policeman who arrested him has never used the word n***er or that f***ing J**? I’m being brutally honest here. It’s the hypocrisy of it that drives me crazy.”

Oldman said he didn’t blame a “pissed off” Baldwin for venting at a pesky gawker while leaving his Manhattan home, because he’s constantly being harassed by paparazzi.

Ostracizing someone because he curses is ridiculous, because profanities are common, the actor said.

“But some Jewish guy in his office somewhere hasn’t turned and said, ‘That f***ing Kraut’ or ‘f*** those Germans,’ whatever it is?” he said. “We all hide and try to be so politically correct. That’s what gets me. It’s just the sheer hypocrisy of everyone, that we all stand on this thing going, ‘Isn’t that shocking?’”

Oldman did have some favorites, naming Fox News analyst Charles Krauthammer as an example of honesty.

“I think he’s incredibly smart,” Oldman said. “I think he’s fair, very savvy and politically insightful, so I enjoy watching him.”

The actor also browbeat Hollywood for allowing comedy and satire to serve as shields for unacceptable commentary, while plain talking gets defined as politically incorrect, saying conservatives in Hollywood “don’t have a podium.”

“Well, if I called Nancy Pelosi a c*** — and I’ll go one better, a f***ing useless c*** — I can’t really say that,” he said. “But Bill Maher and Jon Stewart can, and nobody’s going to stop them from working because of it. Bill Maher could call someone a fag and get away with it.”
