There has been plenty of focus on President Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin avoiding each other as world leaders gathered in France to commemorate the 70th anniversary of D-Day, but that wasn’t the only snub of the day.
Or the most telling.
A World War II veteran who landed in Normandy in 1944 turned down an invitation to meet with Obama, according to The National Review.
Psychologist worries ‘irrational, erratic’ behavior
may seriously indicate Obama is not sane
George Ciampa, a former member of the 84th Graves Registration Unit, was in France attending the anniversary of the D-Day landings when he was invited by the White House to a private meeting between the president and veterans.
“I have so many issues with the president’s policies, including the most recent ones,” Ciampa told National Review columnist John Fund. “I just couldn’t convince myself to do it.”
Days after the questionable deal to release five senior Taliban members in exchange for Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, and with questions still swirling around the Veterans Affairs scandal, other veterans are also having a tough time with Obama’s politics, Fund wrote.
“It’s not that we don’t want to respect the commander in chief,” one veteran told Fund. “It’s just that he makes it so hard to do so.”
