A restored C-47 transport plane from the National Warplane Museum will re-enact its role on June 6, 1944 at D-Day ceremonies in France.
One of the last airworthy planes left from World War II, this is the actual plane which led the second wave of paratroopers from the American 82nd Airborne Division over the areas encircling the Normandy beaches, Fox News reported.
At a top speed of 160 MPH, the C-47 will take 25 flight hours to make the transatlantic trip. A team of jump enthusiasts will recreate the action those brave young Americans performed, 70 years ago, in conjunction with a million other Allied forces.
