Two veterans who served with U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl said Monday that he violated his oath and deserted his platoon.
Former Army Specialists Cody Full and Gerald Sutton told Fox News’ Megyn Kelly in an exclusive interview, that the Army made them sign nondisclosure agreements prohibiting them from speaking out as long as Bergdahl was in captivity. Now they are talking.
“I do believe he deserted, without a doubt in my mind,” Full said, calling some of Bergdahl’s earlier behaviors “telltale signs.”
“He did not serve the United States with honor. We all took an oath. He violated his oath when he deserted us and put other Americans in jeopardy.”
Sutton called himself Bergdahl’s friend, but he said he also believed that Bergdahl deserted, though he never spoke about his true motives.
“I just don’t want to see him hailed as a hero,” Sutton said. “I just want him to face the consequences of his own actions and possibly face court-martial for desertion.”
