A New York City mom was furious after her 8-year-old daughter got a letter from school saying she’s fat – at 66 pounds.
To make matters worse, the girl was given the so-called “Fitnessgram” to take home.
“My daughter is thin; she knows she doesn’t have a weight problem, but that night, I caught her grabbing the skin near her waist, and she asked me, ‘Is this what they were talking about?”‘ Laura Bruiji Williams told Fox News. “It was awful to see.”

The New York City Department of Education issues the Fitnessgrams each year to help support lifelong health, according to its website.
The New York Post reported that the letters come sealed with a small, easily replaced, round sticker and students are told not to look. That is probably all the motivation children need to sneak a peek. Not only did William’s daughter open the letter, but other students did, too.
“Some of her friends found out they were obese,” the mother said. “They were crying.”
Williams complained to the school’s principal that the letters were not mailed to parents.
“She was sympathetic, but said the kids weren’t supposed to open it,” she told the Post. “My response is, they’re kids. How can you believe they’re not going to open it?”
The letter referenced her daughter’s body mass index, but her 66 pounds support a 4-foot-1-inch frame, which is hardly fat.
“I just don’t think that it’s fair to be called overweight when you’re not really overweight,” the girl told the Post.
