Outraged Dana Loesch gets personal with VA scandal; blasts Obama ‘won’t stand for it’ response

Dana Loesch knows up close how deadly government-run health care can be.

She saw it with her own eyes as her ailing grandfather suffered in the care of the now-embattled VA.

danaloeschobama0524On her Blaze TV program Friday, Loesch described the treatment her grandfather – and blasted President Obama for his callous disregard of a problem that was on his radar from the beginning.

“At their best, hospitals aren’t necessarily the happiest places on earth,” Loesch said, after introducing a photo of her grandfather, a World War II veteran. “At their worst, well that’s kind of what I experienced at the VA.”

Loesch described a VA facility where aging, fragile veterans lined hospital hallways in wheelchairs, while those confined to their beds suffered from a lack of basic treatment such as regular pain medication.

Things came to a head one night, when her grandfather was behind schedule on his pain medication and Loesch’s mother had to got repeatedly to the nurse’s station only to be told by an exasperated nurse, “we told you, we will be with you in a moment.”

Ted Cruz fixes Obama’s ‘Like a Boss’ bumper sticker:
Well played!

Anyone who’s been in line at the DMV knows that tone of voice, or stood at a tax assessor’s widow, or tried to get an answer from a court clerk. For something as trivial as a driver’s license or property deed it might be something we quietly fume at, before it becomes part of a story over drinks at the end of the day. When it’s your parents in pain, or your child in pain, or you in pain, it really matters.

And things that really matter – that don’t involve aircraft carriers, nuclear missiles or Seal Team 6 — shouldn’t be in the hands of unionized government employees with lifetime job protection and all the human empathy of an Obama-Biden bumper sticker.

Loesch then introduced a veteran of more recent vintage, David “Moose” McArthur, a Missouri native who put a likely pro-football career on hold to serve in Afghanistan, only to be wounded by a roadside bomb and to come home and struggle with the VA for basic benefits.

“I could spend a week’s worth of shows introducing you to American heroes who were sold out by their government,” Loesch said.

But the lesson is the same.

“It was because of the VA that I never, ever believed in government health care or single-payer, even during my lost years as a Democrat, because I saw how it was!” Loesch said.

Loesch closed the segment with a clip from Obama’s “I will not stand for it” news conference about the scandal on Wednesday. The president might still believe his own bullsh** about the powers of government, but the rest of the country might finally be catching on.
