Obama makes first openly gay NFL player a hero; Benghazi victims a joke

A president who goes AWOL when a U.S. outpost is under attack by terrorists in Libya turns out to have plenty of time to offer congratulations when it comes to the NFL draft.

michaelsam0511newAs long as Democrat-base politics are in play.

President Obama wasted no time Saturday congratulating Michael Sam, the standout University of Missouri defensive end, for being the first openly gay player to be drafted into the NFL (chosen in the seventh round).

The last-day draft of a college athlete must be a crucial development for a White House tired of distractions like House Republicans obsessed with finding out what happened in Benghazi in 2012 and in the Obama administration in the days and weeks afterward.

And Twittter users wasted no time responding.

It should come as no surprise that many weren’t kind.

It’s not just anger at the Obamas’ self-aggrandizement getting shoved in the country’s face again. There’s a real rage in the country over a White House that elevates something as trivial as a football draft — and a seventh-round draft at that — over crucial matters.

A gay man who can play a great game merits presidential attention. Men like Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty — military veterans and CIA operatives who gave their lives protecting other Americans from savages in the deserts of North Africa — get their fates lied about.

On the progressive wing of the progressive party, their deaths are even the topic of “humor” by Dems who liken the investigation into the attack to a masturbation fantasy. Twitter users are disgusted.

A statement about Benghazi doesn’t fit the White House game plan. The plan relies on pacifying the fringe elements of the Democrat base to try to salvage at least a respectable defeat out of the disastrous midterm elections that are less than six months away. The elevation of the Sam draft caters to the gay lobby that’s so important to the Dems.

That’s why the Obamas were so keen to praise  Jason Collins, the NBA’s first openly gay player. Catering to the Democratic base was also why the president was so protective of Sandra Fluke, the Georgetown University birth control activist who’d be much cheaper for American taxpayers if she were gay.

In Obama-world — and in the world of liberals in general — “inclusiveness” for the chosen means excluding everyone who’s not on board.

That’s not going to happen. Obama’s not going to waste time on a Christian athlete any more than he’s  going to call the millions of young women in America who don’t think it’s everyone else’s job to pay money so they can have sex without worrying about getting pregnant.

If they feel that way, they’re probably not Democrats.
