A Wisconsin Democrat who got cheap publicity out of his announced plans to give away Ku Klux Klan hoods outside the state Republican convention tried to make more headlines last weekend by showing up outside the event dressed in a Confederate uniform to accuse the GOP of racism.
But Brett Hulsey got more than he bargained for in his longshot bid for the governor’s office when he came face to face with a black Republican delegate.
In a video posted by the Wisconsin-based free-market think tank The MacIver Institute, the state assemblyman finds himself on the losing end of an argument over exactly which party is really working against the interests of black Americans.
It doesn’t help Hulsey’s case any that the Wisconsin State Journal on Saturday published a column comparing him to “reality” television stars like Honey Boo Boo and Dog the Bounty Hunter.
He’s apparently been embarrassing himself on the Badger State stage for some time (for details, see “Brett Hulsey is a one-man show”), but it was the KKK hoods that got his name onto conservative news sites outside the Upper Midwest.
He was forced to back out of that after statewide disgust in both parties, the State Journal reported.
So how does this sensitive liberal Democrat on the make prove that he’s got the interests of minorities at heart?
He insults Pam Stevens, the delegate in the video, and other minorities who are trying to break the stranglehold of the Democrat Party over their children’s future by comparing them to fried chicken.
“A minority in the GOP is like a chicken at Colonel Sanders’ house,” Hulsey wrote in an email to the Daily Caller.“They may feed you and let you crow a bit, but it does not end well.”
Remember, Hulsey’s trying to replace Scott Walker, one of the most successful governors in the country.
It’s not likely to end well — for him.
