Obama attends Calif. fundraisers, taxpayers get the bill for ‘energy efficiency’ speech

President Obama hit California for a three-day tour that included at least four Democratic fundraisers, but he managed to schedule a speech on energy efficiency so taxpayers could foot the bill.

The president’s first stop was at the “Bel Air home of Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn and his wife, Cindy, for a joint fundraiser for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee,” according to the Los Angeles Times.

Next was the USC Shoah Foundation’s 20th anniversary gala, where the organization’s founder, director Steven Spielberg, presented Obama with an award.

After his speech on energy efficiency in San Jose on Friday morning, Obama closed up his trip with a couple of events with high-profile donors, according theTimes, which reported:

After a closed event for the Democratic National Committee in Los Angeles on Thursday morning, Obama will continue his fundraising circuit with a stop in La Jolla at the home of Qualcomm Inc. founder Irwin Jacobs for a luncheon to benefit the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

He then heads to the San Jose area for several additional events to raise money for the DNC. One of them will be hosted by Y Combinator President Sam Altman and Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer, according to an invitation posted at the Sunlight Foundation’s website.

The trip marked Obama’s 17th visit to southern California since he took office, according to NBC.
