Megyn Kelly reveals hour-long phone chat with Jon Stewart after she called him ‘mean’

Fox News host Megyn Kelly sat down with Reuters for a recent interview and the popular prime-time host shared some thoughts on comedian Jon Stewart, who seemed to have it out for her at times.

Looking for a reaction, Reuters entertainment reporter Eric Kelsey said: “You and your network have often been a favorite punching bag for Jon Stewart on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show.”

“Stewart doesn’t bother me as much as he used to,” Kelly responded, before sharing some inside baseball that he called her one day after she said on air that he was mean.

“He used to do these segments on me all the time, and then one day on the air I said he was mean and then he called me up, and we had an hour-long talk,” she continued. “He explained that he didn’t mean to be mean and that he does satire and that he claimed I was ‘one of the three journalists he respects.'”

“I said, ‘Well, it sounds like you’re looking for absolution, and I’m not giving it,'” she said. “We had a good laugh. He was very good-natured. But I understand what he does.”

Stewart apologized to Kelly before, on his show in December.

Sort of.

After previously ridiculing Kelly for a comment she made about Santa being white — she later said the remark was intended to be humorous — Stewart answered:

“I guess we all owe you an apology. What appeared to me to be another example of a Fox News segment expressing anger and victimization over the loss of absolute power and reframing that as persecution of ‘real America’ by minorities, freeloaders, and socialists — that’s trademarked, by the way. What I thought was that was a jest, a jape, a bit of wise-crackery.”
