Double take! Black Eyed Peas singer Will.i.am debates Rep. Chaffetz on ‘Meet the Press’

Faced with declining ratings, NBC’s “Meet the Press” brought in an unlikely panelist Sunday to share his thoughts on Washington, education and Benghazi: Black Eyed Peas founder Will.i.am.

When the group debated why young voters have become increasingly apathetic, the musician suggested they were turned off by the political “dance” perpetuated byRepublicans and Democrats.

“‘Yes, we can’ means what are you going to do, as well as, when you support Obama, are you going to dedicate yourself to finding solutions?” Will.i.am said. “So I went out there and created this program in the ghetto that I came from, that I come from. I can change that, right? I go off and raise money. I use my own money.”

The musical philanthropist has created the i.am.angel Foundation, which promotes educational initiatives that weave together science, technology, engineering, arts and math.

“And I love that he’s doing that,” U.S. Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, said. “It’s the private sector that grows the economy, that makes a difference in people’s lives. It’s not big federal government. And the disconnect, the reason that this apathy happens, is because government’s not going to come in and solve all their problems. Health care is a major issue now.”

Chaffetz later posted Chaffetz later posted a photo of himself with Will.i.amon his Facebook page:
