Father of Ty Woods, SEAL killed in Benghazi, cutting reaction to latest administration spin

The father of a former Navy Seal who died saving American lives in the Benghazi terrorist attack in 2012 called Friday’s announcement of Speaker John Boehner’s plan to establish a House Select Committee of investigation the attack the “answer to a prayer” for all those who want the truth about the battle and its aftermath.

charleswoods503Appearing on Fox News host Sean Hannity’s program, Charles Woods, said “the people of the United States as well as the families [of the dead] need to know what actually happened.”

Woods’ son, Ty Woods, was one of two CIA security guards who died in the attack, along with J. Christopher Stephens, the U.S. ambassador to Libya, and Foreign Service information officer Sean Smith.

Asked by Hannity about the week’s events in the Benghazi case, stemming from the release of an email written a White House national security advisor about how to control PR damage from the attacks, Woods said the email proved the White House cover-up started almost immediately.

“The smoking gun out of this was document was when they said, emphasize that the protests were rooted in the Internet video,” Wood said.

That was intended to divert attention from the fact that the Islamic terrorists who attacked the diplomatic compound in Benghazi had been assisted by policies of President Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to aid those fighting Libyan President Moammar Gadhafi, Woods said.

“The failure of Obama’s policy was that the weapons and the material that was given to al-Qaeda resulted in the deaths of these four American heroes,” he said.

Woods said the insult of the administration’s cover story about the video was compounded when Clinton personally assured him the U.S. would prosecute the makers of the video, “Innocence of Muslims,” that was originally blamed for the attack.

Drones flying over the battle scene in Benghazi showed the administration the truth of what was going on on the ground he said.

“For seven or eight hours they watched this battle happen. They didn’t watch a video protest,” Woods told Hannity. “They watched a battle with militants that were associated with al Qaeda.”
