Hollywood star Ben Affleck has been banned for life from playing blackjack at the Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

The Academy Award-winning actor, a one-time staunch supporter of President Obama who later described his views of the president as “complicated,” encountered new complications Tuesday when Hard Rock officials allegedly asked him to leave the facility after being caught “counting cards,” according to Fox News.

A source close to Affleck confirmed he was banned from playing blackjack, Fox411 reported.

TMZ reported that sources confirmed security told Affleck he had been deemed an “advantaged player” and could no longer play blackjack at the Hard Rock.

FOX411 described card counting as “a gambling strategy that often refers to obtaining a sufficient count on the number, distribution and high-card location of cards in order to optimize the winning of tricks.”

The tactic is not against the law, but casinos do not tolerate it.

According to Radar Online, prominent casinos in Las Vegas have been alerted that Affleck “uses perfect basic,” a common term for introductory card counting — which means Affleck may have a difficult time finding a high stakes casino that will welcome him.

A Hard Rock representative said in a statement Friday that “Mr. Affleck… is not banned from our property and is welcome back any time.”

Just as long as he stays away from the black jack table?
