A Democrat in Wisconsin is taking racially divisive and incendiary actions to the extreme this weekend when he plans to hand out Ku Klux Klan hoods at the state Republican convention.
State Rep. Brett Hulsey, D-Madison, who is also running for governor, calls the hoods “Republican Party hats,” and rejects the suggestion that his stunt may be offensive, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
“What I find offensive is Gov. Walker and the Republicans’ racist record,” he told the newspaper.
The Democrat lawmaker even boasted about his planned theatrics on Twitter, complete with an image of a hood:

Hulsey, who has a history of controversial behavior, said he’ll also hold a rally Friday outside a location where Walker is scheduled to speak, with supporters donning Confederate soldier uniforms.
Both parties have condemned Hulsey’s antics, the State Journal reported:
“We take serious issue with the policies pursued by Republicans that disproportionately affect communities of color, but this type of behavior has no place in the public dialogue,” Democratic Party Chairman Mike Tate said.
State GOP executive director Joe Fadness said: “If true, Brett Hulsey’s actions amount to nothing more than a reprehensible, vile stunt and everyone should be outraged.”
Twitter users were also quick to let the Democrat know how they felt about his plans:

The correct response when @BrettHulseyWI offers you a KKK hood is “No thanks. I’m not a Democrat.”
