House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi tweeted what has been described as an anti-capitalist cartoon Wednesday in support of raising the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour.
The Houston Chronicle cartoon depicts a businessman standing on a huge pile of money, screaming at a person advocating for a minimum wage increase. The caption reads: “Your greed is hurting the economy.”

Living by the promise of the hashtag, the California Democrat’s tweet included #raisethewage.

As might be expected, Twitter users jumped at the opportunity to school the Democrat in the basics of economics. Twitchy.com documented a few of the responses:
@NancyPelosi Because the impact of layoffs, then slower hiring growth rates will outweigh the impact of the raise. #1010Means #RaiseTheWage

@NancyPelosi Because we understand what “value for value” means to an economy and you do not.

@NancyPelosi Because raising #minimumwage is stupid. It’s Kenysian economics & doesn’t work. And also, just how #rich are you, #hypocrite?

@NancyPelosi Because it is a job killer! #Economics101
