When Michelle Obama picked a question from a 10-year-old girl sitting in the front row at a White House event Thursday, she had no idea was going to field a job pitch.
The question-and-answer session, for children of White House Executive Office employees on “Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day,” inspired young Charlotte Bell to take a chance, according to a CNN video.
“My dad’s been out of a job for three years and I wanted to give you his resume,” the girl said.
Caught off guard, the first lady stood and approached the girl.
“Oh my goodness,” she said, giving the girl a hug.
“Well, it’s a little private, but she’s doing something for her dad, right?” the first lady told the audience.
“Got it,” she said, holding the resume.
The first lady spoke about the sacrifices that have to be made when a parent works in the White House, comparing the trade-offs to her own children’s situation.
