President Obama signed a bill into law Friday having so much universal appeal that it was unanimously passed by both chambers of Congress. But as popular as the bill is with the rest of America, the president says he won’t necessarily follow it.
The legislation, introduced by Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz, denies entry into the United States to anyone who has engaged in espionage or terrorism, or who poses a threat to our national security.
It was specifically directed at Iran’s appointment of Hamid Aboutalebi as its ambassador to the United Nations. Aboutalebi was one of the Muslim students who seized the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, then tortured 52 American hostages for 444 days during the Carter administration.
When Obama signed the bill into law Friday, he included a caveat saying he would take the legislation as guidance — not necessarily as something he feels the need to enforce.
Former Justice Department attorney J. Christopher Adams told fired up Fox News host Megyn Kelly that the president’s actions amounted to “totally embarrassing hypocrisy.”
