U.S. Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., agreed with Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., that the Obama administration is systematically dismantling the U.S. rule of law, especially as it applies to immigration.
He said the attorney general’s recent statement that undocumented immigrants “have a civil right to violate the law” is “nonsensical.”
“It’s like you and I saying we have a right to vote in the next election in Madagascar,” he told Fox News host Megyn Kelly. “To say you have a civil right to amnesty, and to be the top law enforcement official in the country is absurd.”
Gowdy should know — he served six years as a federal prosecutor before coming to Congress in 2011.
He said that the administration’s efforts are fueled by two factors: “a desire for electoral success,” and by the fact that “they get away with it.”
