One Georgia man’s answer to his teenage daughter’s refusal to clean her room has neighborhood tongues wagging, and parents thinking, “Hmm, not a bad idea.”
A Fort Stewart soldier tried everything he could — reasoning, cajoling and even threatening — to get his daughter Haley, an honor student, to clean up her room. But nothing seemed to work, according to NBC Savannah affiliate WSAV-TV.
That’s when he took what his daughter called “extreme” measures, and moved her entire bedroom out to the driveway. Along with her bed dresser and nightstand was a large sign proclaiming, “Haley, room moved to driveway. Clean it next time.”
The father didn’t want to be identified when he spoke with WSAV:
He says he had warned her he didn’t want to treat her like a soldier but when she wouldn’t listen he decided to send her a message.
The father told us that his daughter was initially upset and said that the move was “extreme.”
It all worked out in the end, though. Dad hired a painter to come in and give her room a fresh coat of paint, and she;ll be moving back in soon afterwards with her vow to keep it spruced up.
