Stephen Colbert’s racial joke sparks firestorm of criticism, calls to cancel his show

ColbertIn a show of support for the ongoing politically correct attack on the Washington Redskins team name, comedian and talk show host Stephen Colbert went where most white men fear to tread and critics are now calling for his Comedy Central show to be cancelled.

On Thursday’s episode of the “Colbert Report,” the host was mocking team owner Dan Snyder for launching a foundation to help Native Americans in response to calls for him to change the team’s name.

Colbert’s character on the show is a self-proclaimed “idiot,” and he announced on Thursday’s show that he was starting his own foundation, the Ching Chong Ding Dong Foundation for Sensitivity to Orientals or Whatever — a play on a previous character from the show.

A tweet announcing the foundation was posted on Twitter Thursday afternoon from @ColbertReport — an account that does not appear to be controlled by Colbert (see below). The tweet was later deleted.
