Mom turns herself into ‘speed bump’ to stop rolling car; saves twin toddlers’ lives

This mom really laid it on the line.

peedbumpmom0318newA Lawrence, Mass., woman who thought her car was in “park” used her own body as a “speed bump” to stop the vehicle from rolling into traffic with her twin daughters buckled inside.

According WCVB-TV, 22-year-old Mindy Tran had just gotten out of her Honda sedan on March 6 and turned to lock it when the car rolled out of her garage and down the driveway toward a heavily trafficked street.

Forced to act instantly, Tran did the only thing she could think of.

“I had to use myself as a speed bump to slow it down enough for one of my neighbors to get in and completely stop the car,” she told the station.

Neighbors and local firefighters did come to Tran’s aid – using wooden blocks and an air

bag to lift the vehicle off her. But that was only after she paid for her bravery with crippling injuries.

Tran suffered a dislocated shoulder and crushed left knee that has required several surgeries and rehabilitation therapies and forces her to use a wheelchair for now. She’s going to need more surgery, WCVB reported, but she’s determined to walk again.

“My daughters are my everything, my everything, and I don’t want to see them in the hospital,” she said.

“It was all for my kids. I’m just glad my kids are fine,” she said.
