Sarah Palin shines at CPAC with version of Dr. Suess: ‘We will not take it – nope, nope, nope!’

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is all about going rogue, so it’s no surprise that her irreverent keynote speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference fired up the audience after she was introduced by none other than the National Rifle Association’s Chris Cox.

Palin took shots at the media, the president and everything in between – especially “hope and change.”

“Something happened, and that hope and change went from a catchy campaign slogan to a reality,” Palin said. “And along the way, that hope and change, ‘Yes we can,’ became, ‘No you can’t.’ No you can’t log on to the website. No you can’t keep your health care. No you can’t make a phone call without Michelle Obama knowing this is the third time this week you’ve dialed Pizza Hut delivery.”

But what drew some of the most vigorous applause was Palin’s rendition of Dr. Suess’ “Green Eggs and Ham.”

Palin thanked Texas, and lauded its Republican senator Ted Cruz, saying his filibuster helped wake up America, and that Congress needed “Cruz control.”

Brandishing her copy of the Dr. Suess classic, Palin pointed out that Cruz read the book on the floor of the Senate “through airwaves,” for his children. With five kids of her own, Palin said she had the book memorized, but could “ad-lib” a spiced-up version for the crowd, saying:

I do not like this Uncle Sam, I do not like his healthcare scam.

I do not like these dirty crooks or how they lie and cook the books.

I do not like when Congress steals. I do not like their crony deals.

I do not like this spying man. I do not like, ‘oh yes we can.’

I do not like this spending spree. We’re smart, we know there’s nothing free.

I do not like reporters’ smug replies when I complain about their lies.

I do not like this king of hope and we won’t take it – nope, nope, nope!

The audience responded with uproarious applause and a standing ovation.

Palin also blasted Democrats’ hypocrisy.

“Hey Democrats, it’s your leaders who are demeaning to women,” she said, calling on women to “stand up as sisters” and fight against the mistreatment. “Donkeys just bray, only mama grizzlies can say ‘Hear me roar!'”

But one of the best lines of the night came when Palin mentioned Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

“I’m probably being too hard on the president. After all, who could’ve seen this coming?” she asked, referring to her own comments from 2008, when she predicted Putin may invade Ukraine if Obama were elected.
