Unable to repeal the law in its entirety, GOP lawmakers continue to introduce legislation to address perceived weaknesses of the Affordable Care Act.
U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam, R-Ill., introduced a bill on Thursday that calls for a full-time watchdog to oversee fraud and mismanagement concerns associated with Obamacare. The bill would establish a “Special Inspector General for Monitoring the Affordable Care Act,” according to Fox News.
“There’s very specific criteria that the special inspector general is required to produce and follow up on,” Roskam said. “But the point is it needs to be done holistically and in a larger context. It’s just a common sense approach to government and oversight.”

The idea borrows from past efforts to monitor the reconstruction effort in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the $700 billion financial bailout known as T.A.R.P., Fox News reported. Efforts that Roskam said have saved taxpayers billions of dollars.
And Roskam said Obamacare deserves the same level of scrutiny.
“It’s certainly good enough for something that has an impact on every single American, every single American business, and has a cost of $1.8 trillion,” he said.
House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, who was instrumental in passing the disastrous healthcare law, disagrees with that assessment, according to Fox News.
“Each of the agencies of government that [implement the Affordable Care Act] have their own inspectors general,” Pelosi said. “I think that the system has enough appropriate oversight. I don’t see any reason to go to that point.”
Keep in mind, when previously asked why the Obamacare website failed so spectacularly during its roll-out, Pelosi answered, “I don’t know… it’s not my responsibility.”
