President Obama’s foreign policy failings didn’t start with Syria, but instead go back to the beginning of his term, Charles Krauthammer said on Monday.
Fox News’ Bret Baier pointed the “Special Report” panel to a Washington Post editorial, which said that Russian President Vladimir Putin, and China, “will measure the seriousness of U.S. and allied actions, not their statements.”
Krauthammer said it wasn’t the weakness of Europe or Obama’s flinching on Syria that made Putin decide to invade Ukraine.
“To go into Ukraine and detach and take over, [and] to invade Crimea is a huge step and [Putin] would only have done it with a president who has shown from the very beginning that he is living in a fantasy world,” he said.
Krauthammer reminded the panel of the speech Obama gave at the United Nations at the beginning of his presidency “saying that no nation can or should dominate another.”
“I mean, there’s not a 12 year old in the world who believes that,” he said.
Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry “imagine the world as a new, interconnected world where climate change is the biggest threat, and they are shocked that the Russians actually are interested in territory,” Krauthammer said.
