It doesn’t take much these days.
Recording artist Katy Perry has released a new video of the song “Dark Horse,” which has some Muslims crying blasphemy and calling for it to be removed from YouTube, Al Arabiya reported.
The offending scene happens so quickly, it’s a wonder it was even noticed.
Set in ancient Egypt, the video depicts a suitor disintegrating into sand in front of Perry, who mimics a Cleopatra-like character — the ill-fated beau is wearing a pendant that reads “Allah.”
That’s it.
Viewed over 30 million times since it release last Thursday, the video prompted an online petition that has more than 30,000 signatures.
The petition was created by Shazad Iqbal, who lists the United Kingdom as his home — clearly, he does not speak for all Muslims.

The Change.org petition reads, in part:
Such goes to show, that blasphemy is clearly conveyed in the video, since Katy Perry (who appears to be representing an opposition of God) engulfs the believer and the word God in flames.
This is the reason for lodging the petition so that people from different walks of life, different religions and from different parts of the world, agree that the video promotes blasphemy, using the name of God in an irrelevant and distasteful manner would be considered inappropriate by any religion.
The last time Muslims found a video to be offensive — “Innocence of Muslims” — the ensuing riots left over 20 people dead, which apparently is not seen as “distasteful.”
