Leukemia patient won’t be intimidated as Dem threatens TV stations over Obamacare ad

A Michigan cancer patient who was called a liar by the man trying to become her senator isn’t backing away from her claim that Obamacare has endangered her survival.

And she’s not going to be scared by Democrat government thuggery either.

julieboonstra0224In an interview with Fox News on Monday, leukemia patient Julie Boonstra stood by her argument that Obamacare is bad for her health — and that Democrats like Rep. Gary Peters are responsible for it.

Boonstra was featured in a television attack ad paid for by the conservative group Americans for Prosperity that was aimed directly at Peters, who is running for Senate to replace retiring Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich.

Peters responded to the ad by writing television stations that aired it, accusing them of accepting “false and misleading” advertisements and vaguely threatening their broadcast licenses if the attacks continue.

As proof the ad is false, the letter cited a Washington Post “fact-checker” column that noted that Boonstra’s former insurance policy, which was canceled by Obamacare, had premiums about twice as high as the premiums her new policy required. Boonstra’s savings, according to the column, would make up for whatever additional out-of-pocket expenses Boonstra’s old policy would have covered.

But Boonstra says she was comfortable with how her old policy worked and worries about the cost of out-of-pocket expenses are affecting her health and stands by what she says in the ad.

“They’re not scaring me,” she said. “Cancer scares me. I battle cancer every day. They’re not going to intimidate me.”

The whole argument, in a nutshell, is the problem with the Dems’ brand of socialized medicine called Obamacare.

Since one cancer patient in Michigan is tough to make national policy by, as soon as the Washington Post gets done investigating Julie Boonstra’s insurance policy, it can move on and investigate the monthly premiums versus out-of-pocket expenses for every one of the 7 million people this administration and its sycophant media followers keep claiming are benefiting from Obamacare.

And it might even have time to investigate the policies of the millions who lost their coverage because of Obamacare.

Then we can have an entire national conversation about minutiae of the individual health care choices of every breathing American citizen until we all know exactly who gets what care, how much it should cost, and whether the Washington Post approves.

It’s tough to believe this is what the Founders were thinking of in that hot Philadelphia summer in 1787.

Meanwhile, House Democrats who have been getting tired of their impotent minority status since the 2010 election can run strengthen their campaigns for Senate by threatening to use the powers of the federal government to try to literally silence stations that run advertisements paid for by the political opposition — and intimidate American citizens who stand in their way.
