MSNBC host Toure’s odd race rant: ‘Let’s give white people their own race card!’

Maybe MSNBC should think twice before letting its inflammatory liberal hosts sip wine before going on the air.

Host Toure’ ranted about Black History month Friday, after “The Cycle” hosted a wine-tasting segment for Valentine’s Day, according to The Daily Caller.

“They may be kidding or being provocative,” Toure’ said, suggesting that jokes often contain a kernel of truth, but that whites complaining that there is no white history month is like “being a kid with all the toys in the world, and going to a birthday party and getting mad because another kid has a toy.”

The Daily Caller reported:

“The lack of awareness is a big part of the problem,” he said, claiming that if white people knew how much their skin color advantaged them they would be more open to — ending the mass protests against Black History Month, or something?

“So I propose we shatter that lack of awareness,” the host continued. “I’d say let’s do something entirely crazy. Let’s give white people their own race card! For some people, the term ‘race card’ has come to mean ‘a black person has mentioned race in an inappropriate way,’ but what I think it should mean is, ‘I’d like to use my race to get an advantage, please!’ And let’s be real, sometimes white people do that without even meaning to.”

To be fair, the sips of wine likely had nothing to do with the provocative host’s rant, but you’d have to question the judgment of the producer who allowed the accompanying video of a less than convincing white guy who went on and on about getting every job he interviews for because he and the person interviewing him are both white.

Toure’ ended his rant by saying:

“This race card can be used at job sites, shopping malls, police stops — wherever race matters! The genius of it is that it works just as white privilege does: you need do nothing to activate it. The advantage happens automatically, just like White History Month happens automatically.”

With MSNBC’s track record lately, alcohol for the hosts would seem like a very bad idea. But then again, would it really make a difference?
