Fox News contributor Charles Krauthammer blasted President Obama after Monday’s announcement that the Obamacare employer mandate will yet again be delayed – now until 2016.
The administration’s announcement of the delay came on the same day that President Obama was caught on an open mic while walking with French President Francois Hollande, “That’s the good thing about being president, I can do anything I want.”
A frustrated Krauthammer told the panel on “Special Report” that Obama’s “wantonly changing the law lawlessly” is “stuff that you do in a banana republic.”
I mean this is stuff that that you do in a banana republic. It’s as if the law is simply a blackboard on which Obama writes any number he wants, any delay he wants, and any provision. It’s now reached a point where it is so endemic that nobody even notices or complains.
“And these [changes] are not adjustments or transitions,” Krauthammer continued, “these are political decisions to minimize the impact leading up to an election.”
“And, it’s changing a law in the way that you are not allowed to do.”
According to Fox News, the newest delay in the employer mandate exempts “mid-size businesses, or those with 50-99 employees, from the law until 2016 and are allowing large businesses, with more than 100 employees, to phase in health care coverage during the next two years. The large businesses would have to cover 70 percent of employees the first year and then 95 percent the following year and beyond.”
The following YouTube video has Obama’s comments interspersed with Krauthammer’s appearance on Monday’s “Special Report with Bret Baier.”
