When Hollywood icon Clint Eastwood staged an improvised “chat” with an empty chair serving as a stand-in for President Barack Obama at the 2012 Republican National Convention, some liberals questioned whether the then-82-year-old was losing it.Â
But more than a year later, it appears the action star is still sharp enough to save a man’s life.
Eastwood was attending a party at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am on Thursday, when he noticed tournament director Steve John was choking, according to The Carmel Pine Cone.

“I looked in his eyes and saw that look of panic people have when they see their life passing before their eyes,” Eastwood told the local newspaper. “It looked bad.”
John said he was eating a piece of cheese while talking and suddenly couldn’t breathe.
“Clint came up behind me, and he knew exactly what to do,” John said. “He lifted me right off the ground. He’s strong! The cheese popped out, and I was fine. Clint saved my life.”
Now there’s at least one man on the planet who’ll argue that Eastwood is no empty chair when there’s a need for quick action.
