Thursday’s announcement that U.S. Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., will retire from the House at the end of his current term was received as good news by most conservatives.
At least until Raw Story reported that Sandra Fluke — the 32-year-old former law school student who wants you to pay for her birth control — is considering running to fill Waxman’s seat.”
“I’m flattered that I’m being discussed as a potential candidate,” Fluke told KPCC-FM. “A number of folks I respect very deeply have reached out today and encouraged me to run. I am strongly considering running.”
Watch employees react as they learn of Obamacare premium increases
The last of the “Watergate Babies” — Waxmen was part of the class of 1974, elected in the aftermath of the Watergate scandal that led to President Nixon’s resignation. He spent 40 years in Congress and is one of the key architects behind Obamacare.
In a statement Thursday, Waxman said: “After 40 years in Congress, it’s time for someone else to have the chance to make his or her mark, ideally someone who is young enough to make the long-term commitment that’s required for real legislative success.”
Enter Fluke, who was used as a convenient prop in the Democratic Party’s fabricated “war on women” during the 2012 election.
A move that paid off when talk radio host Rush Limbaugh used the term “slut” while questioning her testimony before Congress that contraception can cost a woman as much as $3,000 during law school.
It’s not clear if the Democratic Party will get behind a Fluke run.
Raw Story reported that a spokesperson for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee said they’re “still deliberating who should represent the party in the upcoming race to replace Waxman.”
Heaven forbid that this decision be left up to the people.
