Administration to huddle with Hollywood execs to discuss ‘portraying ObamaCare in TV & Film’

If that televised, Moonie-style mass “wedding” at the Grammys wasn’t bad enough, television-as-propaganda might be getting even worse soon.

According to an invitation reported by Breitbart, the Writers Guild East and the progressive Normal Lear Center (faithful Hollywood foot soldiers for the Democratic Party for decades) are teaming up with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to try to sell the American public Obamacare the same way television sells electronic games, English muffins   and erectile dysfunction drugs.

The panel called “The Affordable Care Act: Comedy, Drama & Reality – Portraying ObamaCare in TV & Film” is set for Feb. 18 in New York City.

The invitation doesn’t spell out exactly what position “Comedy, Drama and Reality” shows are supposed to take on Obamacare. But given the Norman Lear Center’s long history of “progressive” causes, and the announced presence of a CMS propaganda commissar (described on the invitation as the director of the office of communications), it isn’t hard to guess: Two broke girls find out they’re less broke when the government’s paying for their birth control pills?

In November, a month after the debacle of Obamacare enrollment got started, a private group called The California Foundation gave a $500,000 18-month grant to the Lear Center “to produce compelling prime-time narratives that encourage Americans to enroll,” according to a Fox News report Nov. 4.

Now, that money is being put to use to push the seemingly benevolent dictatorship of Obamacare into American living rooms during prime time.

Hollywood libs used to like to pretend they were thumbing their nose at the state – the producers of “Murphy Brown” acted like they were Christian martyrs getting rounded up by Nero when Vice President Dan Quayle criticized the show for portraying an affluent white woman deciding to become a single mother.

These days, they’re holding panel discussions on how best to put the machinery of American entertainment into the service of the machinery of the state.

Now, there’s an unholy marriage.
