Senate candidate, US Congressman, giving away AR-15 because Obama wants it banned

U.S. Rep. Paul Broun, R-Ga., is running for the U.S. Senate and he’s giving away an unusual prize to one lucky supporter – a semi-automatic AR-15.

“Barack Obama would like nothing more than to ban the AR-15 rifle,” Broun’s campaign website says on the sweepstakes page. “And that’s exactly why I’ve decided to give away a free AR-15 to one of my fellow Second Amendment supporters.”

“How would you like to start off 2014 with a brand new AR-15 for free?” Broun said in an email Friday, according to Atlanta NBC affiliate 11 Alive.

Broun, a physician and medical officer in the U.S. Navy Reserves who has served in Afghanistan, is a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment.

“Democrats and liberal media would love to take away our guns and mandate every aspect of our lives,” the email said, according to 11 Alive.

Broun represents Georgia’s 10th District in the U.S. House, elected in a 2007 special election.
