White House spokesman Jay Carney says Obamacare is so great, it would be worth the Democrats’ losing the Senate over.
Because it’s not all about politics.

White House spokesman Jay Carney
Under questioning by Jonathan Karl on ABC’s “This Week,” the spokesman for President Barack Obama said Obamacare – the president’s “signature disaster – will have been worth doing even if it costs the president’s Democrats control of the Senate in 2014, as it cost them the House in 2010.
“Will it have been worth it if you lose the Senate?” Karl asked. “Will it have been worth it politically?”
“This is not about politics,” Carney said. “So the answer is: it is absolutely worth it, no matter what happens.”
And he wasn’t finished yet.
“I just disagree that Republicans are going to have a winning issue if they decide to run on it because they’ve got to explain what repeal means,” Carney said told Karl.
It was a statement that showed either an obtuse inability to grasp the obvious – that Obamacare is intensely unpopular – or a deliberate obfuscation of reality – that Republicans are somehow undecided about whether Obamacare will be the point of attack throughout the 2014 election cycle.
With polls like the one cited by Karl that showed only 37 percent of the American public believes the president is capable of making the right decision and a Fox News poll last week that showed opposition to Obamacare at 59 percent (including 30 percent of Democrats), it’s undeniable the American public is already sick of Obamacare.
And with ads already popping up attacking vulnerable Democrats in Congress – like Florida Reps. Patrick Murphy and Joe Garcia and New Hampshire’s Jeanne Sheehan – there’s no question that Republicans have decided that Obamacare is a winning issue to solidify their hold on the House and try to take over the Senate for Obama’s final two years.
But Carney is still trying to give the impression that a public verdict on the party that passed the law is still somehow in doubt.
“It is absolutely worth it, no matter what happens,” Carney said.
The question is, will he remember that come November?
