It’s a temporary victory, but a victory nonetheless for the order of Catholic nuns being forced by Obamacare to provide contraception coverage or face huge monetary fines.

Late Friday evening, all nine Supreme Court justices granted an injunction to the Denver-based Little Sisters of the Poor Home for the Aged ruling the nuns don’t have to comply with the contraception mandate as their court case plays out in the lower courts.

The justices also granted the Little Sisters exemption from signing the government forms needed to state objections to the mandate, which the nuns said “signing…makes them complicit in providing contraceptive coverage, and therefore violates their religious beliefs,” according to Fox News.

Instead, the court ruled, the nuns simply need to inform Health and Human Services “in writing” that they will not comply with the Obamacare contraception mandate:

“To meet the condition for injunction pending appeal, applicants need not use the form prescribed by the government and need not send copies to third-party administrators,” Fox reported the court order read.

“The Court’s order also provides protection to more than 400 other Catholic organizations that receive health benefits through the same Catholic benefits provider, Christian Brothers,” the press release from the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, who represent the Little Sisters and Hobby Lobby, read.

“They’ve been so amazing throughout the entire process. They take this very, very seriously. They think this is really, really important and so they’re delighted at this news,” attorney Daniel Blomberg told Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren Friday night.

“Now [the Little Sisters are] protected, at least, so they can have their day in court and go through and argue,” he said.
